On Monday the 11th of January Hans Bonte, mayor of Vilvoorde, Steven De Smet, author of the book "De nieuwe Politie" (the new police) and Epko van Nisselrooij, City Surveillance expert at Axis Communications, met each other to debate the impact of technology on the way Belgian police is organised. There was a strong feeling Belgian police will need to catch up with the latest technologies, to be able to ensure our security in the digital age.
